Director of Rooms

We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Director of Rooms; the wage will be negotiated based on experience. This position will be overseeing our three hotels in Banff: Banff Park Lodge, Bow View Lodge and Peaks Hotel & Suites, a new development scheduled to open late 2020.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee revenue management, the distribution strategy of the hotel and contribute on day to day yield operations
  • Manage and oversee strategy for all 3rd party distribution
  • Extensive use of Rooms, Front Office/Hotel operations systems, Concierge, POS system interfaces and other commonly used systems in the hospitality industry (being familiar with Opera/Opera Cloud is an asset)
  • Implement and oversee best practice standards such as competitor analysis; environmental scanning; market modeling; distribution yield management; business mix yield management; length of stay yield management; inventory availability by channel; pricing control and new pricing concepts
  • Ensure that all reservation and inventory management systems such as TravelClick, TripTease, GuestFolio, etc. are configured correctly, validated and working to full capacity

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a hotel environment or related field is required; 5-10 years of experience is preferred
  • Prior supervisory/managerial experience is required
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Hotel Management, Tourism or Economic Studies
  • Must be in possession of a valid two year work permit or must be a Canadian Citizen
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office and hotel technology (PMS, Channel Manager, GDS, CRS, Extranets)
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Must have the ability to anticipate guest needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask
  • Have a strong capacity to read situations, understand environments and respond accordingly
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within Housekeeping/Front Office department is required

Front Desk Agent

Seeking full-time, permanent Front Desk Agents, required to work day shifts, evening shifts, weekends and holidays. The wage will be negotiated based on experience.

Duties Include (but are not limited to):
• Take, cancel and change room reservations, process telephone calls
• Provide information on hotel facilities and services, provide general information and services required for guests with special needs
• Customer service oriented work with minimal supervision
• Clerical duties (i.e faxing, filing, photocopying)
• Reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, communication, working with others and problem solving
• Decision making, critical thinking job task planning and organizing

Ideal Candidate
• Has 1 to 2 year previous hotel front desk or reservation experience
• Is a capable multi-tasker with a keen attention to detail
• Has a professional, yet friendly, personality and demeanor in person and over the telephone
• Has excellent English comprehension and communication skills; a second language is an asset as we welcome many international guests
• Has experience working with Microsoft Office
